it is the first time in my photographers life that I loose someone I don’t know well, but I did pictures of, recently. I never thought about that this could happen and that it will touch me. Every picture of WEILE. has its own story. A story I know and maybe some others. I try to explain what it was. We met on a rainy wednesday in Berlin. It was a hard week. We had a lot of things to organize cause the schedule was tight. When Silvia, your agent, called me and told me that you would like to participate, i felt honored & nervous. I wanted, to meet you badly, but your personal schedule was also limited, but I said yes and me met on this fucking, rainy Day. On a location which wasn’t prepared, with an Idea, not really clear. But there you were . Different. A man, good age, a little bit nervous, too….
-but really no attitude.
In real Lifetime, I think we spend about 25 min on location, 8 min on the Openingshow, 4,5 min watching the movie together @ the Weltbühne & 8 min doing this PRpictures with Felicitas for the Welt….means 45,5 min….
But a photographers life is different. I have a picture we worked on, a lot of people worked on that picture, with you. I had to edit all the pictures we made ( around 6,5 h), we had to retouch it, to get out the stupid advertising in the back of the picture ( which Kori made ), I went to Neuss in Germany to make the print of your picture (8h ride), I went back with the picture to Hamburg where the girls, Anna & Sabrina, where waiting to put the picture into a handcrafted Frame ( another 4 h ride without traffic Jams) while the Openingshow is just a day ahead. I tried out then, which picture will be where on the Wall which took me another 11 hours.
So as you can see. We spend more time together than we both thought of. Every Day I see you in the Exhibition….which means now every day… 3 min a day , over 5 month.
The Exhibtion will be over soon, but one picture will stay there. It always has been the idea of the Wall that every artist will leave one picture to the next artist.
It will be yours.
Rest in peace and thank you for meeting you. It was great , to see that my vision of an artist isn’t wrong. it has been my pleasure.
sincerely, Tom
Thanks for coming to hear my Story of WEILE.
